Research Design Proposal

For this section of your proposal, choose one (only one) of the following types of methods:   

*Experiment: controlled, quasi-, pre-test/post-test, or field

*Large Survey (quantitative): self-administered, phone, or computer

*Qualitative Interview: structured, semi-structured, unstructured, or focus group

*Participant Observation

*Content or Discourse Analysis: text or visual data 

*Choose only one: Analysis of Historical Records, Archives, or Official Documents

In at least 400 words (about 1.5 pages), identify and describe your methodimagine yourself actually using it, and describe what you would do. Identify your particular techniques. For example, if you use a self-administered survey, will you mail them out, distribute them at a location, send them to individuals or households, and how would you collect them? Or, if you interview, where and when will they take place, and how long will they be? Also explain how you will capture and record the data. For example, with the SAQ again, would it be paper and pencil formatrespondents mark the answers right on the questionnaire, and will you enter coded data into a data spreadsheet (such as SPSS)? Or, for qualitative interviews, will you tape-record and transcribe answers into a word document, or just take notes and type them up? Grading rubric: Limited to One Type of Method (5 points); Design and Procedures Described Thoroughly (10 points); Organization, Coherence, Clarity (5 points)

This assignment must be written completely in your own words and submitted as a Microsoft Word file only.  To give you some ideas, a Methods example is attached, but your assignment will not be as long and detailed as this.
