Bio-Molecules

1. List the four categories of bio-molecules and the base units/monomers for each category.

2. Read the label on a bottle of non-diet soda and write down the first four ingredients. Is there an ingredient listed that you recognize from this lesson? What is it, and what do you think it is used for in the soda?

3. Find out what the enzyme lactase is used for, and describe the condition where lactase is not available.

4. Which are supposed to be healthier for humans to consume, saturated fats or unsaturated fats? Hypothesize what the types of bonds in the fats might have to do with this.

5.Do some research. For each compound below, list the molecular formula and name the elements present.
