Anticoagulant medication such as warfarin add to reduce the overall production of blood clogging factors because the primary action of vitamin K is the manufacturing of the same proteins the amount of vitamin K rich foods a patient eats can impact the medication level needed for optimal anticoagulant. Many patients believe they should avoid foods rich in vitamin K while taking warfarin but this could lead to unstable anticoagulant and the restriction of how the nutrition is found in these foods patient should strive to eat a constant diet rather than limiting vitamin K which foods like dark leafy greens. Mr. Jones may have two strikes against him the first is that he is elderly and the second he is vegan a significant contribute to the vitamin B 12 deficiency especially in the elderly population is food cobalamin malabsorption other cases of vitamin B 12 deficiency from in adequate intake have been reported in vegans for whom cobalamin supplements are recommended to prevent such deficiency since their diet contains no animal phones the only natural source of vitamin B12.
