   1. Its election time, even while a war is on!  Write a persuasive newspaper article or op-ed from the perspective of a citizen living in the US during the Election of 1864.  You can try to persuade your audience as to the importance of the election and whats at stake; you can try to persuade your audience to vote for your preferred candidate; but you should be making a persuasive argument. 

In your persuasion, you should connect your issue to the war itself.  In other words, if you want to persuade your audience to vote for Lincoln, explain to them why a vote for Lincoln is important for the war. 

In order to fully persuade your reader, you should also use evidence to support your claims. 

Articles should be 3-5 paragraphs long.

*Note:  Although this assignment asks you to take on the perspective of a person from the past, it is critical that you avoid taking on any harmful ideologies from the past, such as racism.  Do not endorse any racist etc ideas from the past, even indirectly
