Directions:

Write a 1,2501,500-word paper discussing the role of descriptive epidemiology in nursing science. Include the following:

1.     Explain the concept of descriptive epidemiology using either a theoretical or conceptual understanding of a specific condition to identify patterns (e.g., distribution of data, data collection, condition or distribution of the data, and determinants in the relationship to disease populations).

2.     Provide a contemporary example of how descriptive epidemiology is applied in public health nursing.

3.     Define health disparity and how it occurs, and what factors contribute to it in an at-risk population.

Learners analyze epidemiological, biostatistical, occupational, and environmental data in the development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical prevention and population health. Evidence-based recommendations for health promotion and risk reduction for individuals and families and concepts of public health are emphasized. Learners are expected to integrate and synthesize core program competencies and specialty practice requirements necessary to demonstrate proficiency in advanced nursing practice in the DNP Practice Immersion Workspace. 

 Here are a few gentle reminders of the expectations of assignments for the program.

       All scholarly papers must be submitted using the University template. This includes a title page and reference page. The assignment does not require an abstract.

       All scholarly papers must include an Introduction that includes the purpose of the paper or a thesis statement. Tell the reader about your topic and what the paper will discuss. The body of the paper should include the headings.

       A conclusion, which is a summary for the reader. Include the DNP nurse’s role. Papers submitted without these components will have points deducted.

 Please follow the rubric for grading and include the grading topics as headings in your paper. This will ensure that you have addressed all the required topics. I look forward to reading your paper
