Film Review

Film Response Assignment: Throughout the semester students will have the choice to watch several films/shows related to the course material. Students will choose one of these films/shows to watch and write a 3-4-page response to the film/show including their impression of how the historical topic is presented in it and comparing it to how we discussed it in class or how your readings discussed the historical period. Due by the last day of the course but may be turned in earlier. Students only need to choose one of these to do during the semester. If there is a historical film that you wish to review and is related to the class, just email me for approval and you can do that one for this assignment.

Students may also do a longer version of this assignment (5-6 pages) responding to the new four-part documentary on HBO Exterminate All the Brutes (2021) which largely covers the history of White Supremacy/Colonialism/and the historical construction of race If students choose to watch this docuseries and write the longer paper they can receive up to 5% extra credit as well as receiving credit for their Film Response Assignment.
