Final project: Informative Research Paper
(1) Select one of the following topics:
· Effectiveness of prison treatment programs for sex offenders
· Life course theory and juvenile sex offending
· Consequences of electronic monitoring of sex offenders
· Is pornography consumption related to sexual aggression or sex offending
· Prevalence of sexual coercion among college students
*If there is another topic you are interested in you must run it past me before doing your final project on it
(2) Find at least FIVE peer reviewed journal articles relevant to your topic. These articles should explore your chosen topic. You will need to integrate these articles into a discussion about the topic you have chosen, as well as what the research has found regarding this topic.
(3) Use all of this information to develop a coherent paper. This paper should include a clear introduction which states the purpose of your paper. The paper should discuss the material from all of your sources in a way that integrates the information. Do not just summarize each article one after another, but develop a well organized and complete discussion of the topic.
(4) Organize your paper like a research study.
a. The first section should introduce the topic. What is the topic you are reviewing? Give some background information and show why the topic is important.
b. The second section should review the literature and discuss what the research has found about this topic.
c. Lastly, summarize your paper in the third section, the conclusion. What where the major findings from the articles? What should future research do to learn more about this topic?
d. Be sure to include in-text citations AND a complete reference page using APA format.
e. Your paper should be at least 5 pages in length. The reference page does not count towards page length. Your paper must be double spaced using the font Times New Roman in 12 point. The margins must be no greater than 1 inch on the top, bottom, left, and right of each page. Do not add excessive line spaces or other attempts to make the paper appear longer.
