- For this last assignment, I would like for you to inspect the symbols of your life and discuss the significance of them. Pick things that actually describe your personality or your situated position in the world. Select things that you own or carry around or relevant physical features. Select at least TWO symbols that help to construct your identity or that actually identify you in some way and discuss their possible meanings. These things should be material, tangible things that you actually own and carry around with you. In short, pretend that your life is a literary text and analyze it.
You dont have to see this as a formal essay; Im much more concerned about how you are able to pinpoint and articulate important components of your life. Reading a text is reading a text, regardless of the situation.I suspect that it will require about a page (150-200 words) to discuss each symbol sufficiently.
