Educators use assessment for a variety of reasons. One way they use assessment is to determine whether and to what degree students are achieving their learning expectations. In Module 5, we explored lesson planning and the importance of writing measurable learning objectives. One of the reasons we do this is to prepare you to incorporate assessment into your plan for instruction.

Maintain your position from Module 5 as a K-12/higher education teacher. You will focus on the assessment section of your lesson plan template for this discussion. Describe the process you will use to assess student progress toward and overall student achievement of the learning objectives for your lesson. Provide concrete examples of the measures (assignments) you would use. Explain why you selected these measures and discuss the advantages and disadvantages to using each measure.
