Assignment 2 Instructions

Late submission will be penalized with 20% grade deduction.

• Design your own website using only HTML tags, images, graphics, and links.
• Do not use any HTML developer software, including MS Word.
• Use only the information presented in class, along with W3C Schools HTML resource.
• Site will be graded on meeting all the requirements as well as creativity.
• This assignment is worth 15 points. You should have following pages:

1. portfolio.html page: (3 points)
   • Your portfolio must include nine (9) artifacts arranged in a 3 by 3 table, and each cell should include a thumbnail image and subtitle.
   • Each portfolio artifact image and subtitle are hyper-linked to the associated artifact page. When you click on the image and or the subtitle the artifact page should replace the thumbnail page with a page dedicated to the item selected from the table.
2. Nine artifact pages: (9 points)
   • Each artifact page should include a larger version of the thumbnail image used in the table cell on the portfolio page. You can use the same image and apply style to the image if necessary.
   • Each artifact page should also include a paragraph or two (150 words above) about why the artifact is in your portfolio collection and why it’s important.
   • Include a navigation system at the bottom of each portfolio artifact page: a link of "Next" leading to the next item in the table on the portfolio page, and the link of "Previous" leading to the previous item in the table, so users can navigate to the next or previous items without returning to the Portfolio page each time.
3. sitemap.html page – this page will list all the site links including the pages you designed and the reference links to external websites on each page if you have any. You need to use either ordered list or unordered list to list the site links. All links on this page should use target="_blank" to open them in new windows. (2 points)
4. tutorial.html page – on this page, you will introduce 3 html tutorial websites and tell the viewers why those websites are useful and helpful in designing and developing websites. These three links should have target="_blank" to open them in new windows. (1 point)

You need to add above three page links to your menu.html page. All three links need to have target="right" to open them inside the right iframe. After you update your menu.html page, you must re-upload this page to replace the old one on the server in order to display newly added links. If you cannot see the new version, you need to clear the browser history or cache to reload new content.

Turning in the Assignment:

• After you have finished all your pages, you MUST use FileZilla to upload all your html pages and images to the server INSIDE the Public_htmlfolder.
• After you have uploaded all your files to the server, you MUST preview your site in the browser to make sure every link works and every image shows properly. Your site address is: http://osx.soc.uh.edu/~SFTPUsername (you can find this info in your grade book). If you don’t see your site updates with new pages, you need to clear your browser history and refresh your site. You must preview your site and make sure it is working before the deadline. If you can’t see it, I can’t either. You won’t get credit if your site is not working. You can help each other preview the site and provide feedback. If you still can’t figure out what is the problem, contact me asap. Don’t wait till after the deadline.
• If you do not see your assignment links in the browser, it means you forgot to update your menu.html page. You need to add the links for assignment 2 to your menu.html page and then re-upload it to the server to replace the old one. Make sure to refresh your browser to reflect the changes, sometimes the browser cache the old page.
