This essay needs two parts. Part A is related to communications and Part B is related to environmental influences on behavior. Both parts are related to the current situation being experienced by people in the country, i.e., COVID-19 pandemic.
 
Part A: Identify and review four distinct public communications (print, web pages, videos, podcasts, etc.) on social media/Internet about COVID-19 pandemic. These communications could be official announcements by government agencies, statements or communications from other influential people (news media, famous personalities, sports or movie stars), professional experts (physicians, nurses, public health experts), other professionals (plumbers, lawyers), other individuals. For each item of communication comment about:
  1. Describe the spokesperson, his/her characteristics.
  2. Describe the content of the communication.
  3. Describe who do you think this source is trying to reach (audience).
  4. Analyze and comment upon the factual accuracy of the message, trustworthiness of the person, emotional state of the person and the message (angry, calm, happy, analytical, etc.). Also, comment upon if you believe the source of the message was successful in reaching the intended audience. Explain why you think this way.
  5. Remember to give reference to the source of communication (e.g., URL of the video, web page, etc.).
 
Part B: For this part, based on your observations of people around you and others you have heard about, discuss how the COVID-19 pandemic has influenced consumer behavior. Relate your observations to concepts discussed in the class (e.g., motivation, learning, attitudes, etc.). Which part of the change in consumer behavior might be short term in nature (i.e., people will go back to their old habits when this is over) and which part of consumer behavior may be long-term in nature.
