Discuss whether this could happen in today’s world or was it unique to Socrates time? Are there countries in the world where such things happen regularly? Could it happen in the United States? What do we do to people in the modern world who protest the values and ideals of their society? How would Socrates charge us with living an examined life in today’s world?

Part 2.

Consider Plato’s conception of the soul and its tripartite nature. How does Plato demonstrate that this view of the soul can lead to a theory of justice and morality? Do you think Plato is right when he argues that it is better to live as a just person than an unjust one, or is Thrasymachus right when he argues that morality is for losers?

Feel free to bring in some examples from modern life to illustrate your argument.
