The question is: is it better to be alive or dead?

Instructions:

Lets keep it simple, take the soliloquy on the left and put in your own words. Youre probably saying, they already did that! Youre correct, they have, but know two actors would ever play a role the same and yet, they are saying the same words. Mariah Carey and Beyonce can sing the same song and yet sing it differently. So, take the translation of the one on the right, and put it in your own words. So, a translation of a translation so to speak. Think of a life experience

HAMLET

The question is: is it better to be alive or dead? Is it nobler to put up with all the nasty things that luck throws your way, or to fight against all those troubles by simply putting an end to them once and for all? Dying, sleepingthats all dying isa sleep that ends all the heartache and shocks that life on earth gives usthats an achievement to wish for. To die, to sleepto sleep, maybe to dream. Ah, but theres the catch: in deaths sleep who knows what kind of dreams might come, after weve put the noise and commotion of life behind us. Thats certainly something to worry about. Thats the consideration that makes us stretch out our sufferings so long.

youve had, or someone else and let those thoughts/feelings, speak through you. Keep in the same frame or flow of thought that Hamlet is having. Now this is written in verse and we could dig deeper on that, five (5) beats per line but I am not looking for five (5) beats per line. Type it, does not have to be more than twenty one (21) lines, the number that are in the text on the right. Ex.

So, my question is, do I want to live or die? (this is line one)
Should I do the noble thing and put up with all the crap that life throws (line two) Or instead should I say, to heck with it (line three)
And end it all, right now…..(line four)

Okay, thats my little example. Now you get the idea, I hope. I did not finish it, but you will finish the whole thought/ soliloquy. You dont need to label line one, ect. Follow the format though. You can do it!

Criteria:

So, youre putting this in your own words.
Keeping in the context with struggling with contemplating suicide (morbid, I know).
Will suicide work, explore that.
Come to the conclusion, as Hamlet did, it will not solve lifes problems.
Can I use some of the words from the original or translated text? Some, yes but the point of this exercise is to see what emotions/ feelings come out through you.
