Broken Windows and Hot Spots

In this first essay- read both the “Broken Windows” article as well as the article by Brenda Bond and Anthony Braga.  They conducted research in Lowell, Massachusetts to determine whether not a “hot spots” approach in policing, combined with the “Broken Windows” assumption actually works to reduce serious crime.  The Lowell, MA police agreed to designate “experimental” districts that would receive a heavier dosage of Broken Windows/Hot Spots policing, and allow the authors (Braga & Bond) to compare the resulting crime rates in those “experimental zones” with the rate in districts that had received no additional resources.  Referring to the syllabus for guidance, your job is to write me a 5-page essay that basically explains:

1)  The research design

2)  The research methodology

3) The research findings and conclusions

AND- sum it up with YOUR assessment on how WELL the authors were able to accomplish their task.
