In this activity, you will submit a Position Paper relatedto the module subject matter. This week you are required to select atopic related to technology applied to energy or the environment. 

• Choose an issue where there is a clear division of opinion which is arguable with facts and inductive reasoning. (CLIMATE CHANGE AND TECHNOLOGY)
• You may choose an issue about an opinion which you have already formed. However, in writing about this issue, you must examine your opinion of the issue critically.
• Prior to writing your Position Paper, define and limit your issue carefully. Social issues are complex and multi-faceted. Narrow the topic of your Position Paper to something that is manageable.
• Research your issue thoroughly, consulting experts, and obtaining primary documents. Consider feasibility, cost-effectiveness, and political/social climate when evaluating possible solutions and courses of action.

Regarding the research for your Position Paper, you should:

• Develop supporting evidence for both sides including factual knowledge, statistical evidence, and authoritative testimony.
• Identify the issues and prejudices keeping in mind the audience.
• Anticipate counterclaims.
• Define unfamiliar terms/concepts or state meanings that define any point of departure.
• Summarize their argument and evidence, opposing arguments, and refutations.

Your paper should be two-three pages in length and followthis outline:

b. Provide background on the topic to explain why it is important.
c. Assert your thesis (your view of the issue).

II. Your Argument – Assert Point #1 of your claims.

a. Provide your educated and informed opinion.
b. Provide support/proof using more than one source (preferably three).

III. Your Argument – Assert Point #2 of your Claims

a. Provide your educated and informed opinion.
b. Provide support/proof using more than one source (preferably three).

IV. Your Argument – Assert Point #3 of your Claims

a. Provide your educated and informed opinion.
b. Provide support/proof using more than one source (preferably three).

V. Counter Argument

a. Summarize the counterclaims.
b. Provide supporting information for counterclaims.
c. Refute the counterclaims.

VI. Conclusion

a. Restate your argument.
b. Suggest possible solutions, courses of action and/or recommendations.
