      Electrocardiogram (ECG) and Blood typing

       An electrocardiogram is a reading of the electrical out puts of the hearts pacemaker. The pacemaker or sinoatrial node regulates the contraction of heart muscle. It does this in with electrical waves, that coordinate the contraction of the atria and then ventricles. Interpretation of the readout of an ECG can give information to diagnose several heart conditions. More information is found at 

      1. Investigate normal and abnormal heart rhythms. 

         Play this simulator 

         Select and play 4 different rhythms and describe them. Draw each rhythm and record the correct diagnosis. For each provide:

         1. 1. Draw each abnormal rhythm you chose. What was the heart rate for that rhythm. 
            2. How is this rhythm diagnosed? How is it different than normal rhythms?
            3. What is the prognosis for someone with this rhythm? 
            4. What should a person with that rhythm do about their condition?

         This is a video on blood typing.  Watch the procedure and answer the questions that follow. 

          

         1. What happens when you mix anti-bodies with each blood type?  
         2. How do you identify each blood type?
         3. Why is there a reaction when you mix the wrong blood types together?
