This week, you will analyze policy issues from the lens of professional organizations related to your current profession. The overwhelming majority of students in this course will fall under the following  categories: PK-12 faculty/staff, PK-12 administrator, college faculty,  college administrator. If you work in another type of educational organization, consider your current or desired leadership role. If your current or desired profession does not fall under one of these categories, please work with your instructor to find an appropriate  professional angle for this assignment.

You will analyze policy issues by accessing professional organization websites that relate to your professional category. For this assignment, you must choose at least one (ideally two) professional organization websites.

You will find a list of example professional organization websites,  in the Books and Resources for this Week, This list is not inclusive of  everything. There are numerous other organizations not listed. Be sure  to discuss with your instructor prior to completing this assignment.

Assignment: Find the section on the organization’s website in which policy initiatives, policy advocacy, or policy positions are stated. All major organizations should have this section. Write a paper in which you discuss the policy issues discussed by the organization, the  advocacy stance or position, and the reasons provided for the position.  Conclude with your reaction to these positions and your own statement to compare or contrast your position with the organization.

Length: 3-5 pages not including reference pages

Resources: Make sure to properly cite the 2 resources you used.

Your assignment should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts presented in the course by providing new thoughts and insights relating directly to this topic.
