What is the central point of the parable in Matthew 13:52? On what basis do you reach your conclusion?
According to Robertson Mcquilkin, A parable is a true-to-life short story designed to teach a truth or to answer a question. Jesus Christ used parable a lot in His teachings. Some of His parables are long while others are very short. One of the short Jesus Christ’s parables is found in Matthew 13:52, “He said to them, “Therefore every teacher of the law who has become a disciple in the kingdom of heaven is like the owner of a house who brings out of his storeroom new treasures as well as old.”
This is one of the parables that has no explanation of its meaning in its immediate context. Jesus Christ did not explain the meaning of the parable after giving it. In this parable, Jesus Christ likening a teacher of the law that has become a disciple in the kingdom of heaven to a house owner that brings new and old treasures out of his storeroom. To be able to determine the central point of this parable, one would have to relate it with its immediate context.
The immediate context before this parable was another parable with a clear explanation and central point. The central point of the immediate context is the separation of the wicked from the righteous and the eternal condemnation of the wicked. I believe this central point is also extended to the parable in Matthew 13:52. There was the coexistence of the new and the old, the good and the bad, the new life in Christ and the old self (the flesh). These would eventually be separated. The old self would give way for the new life in Christ. Self-righteousness or righteousness by the law would give way for the righteousness that comes by faith and through grace.
Without the immediate context, it would have been very difficult to interpret and come up with the central point of this parable. Therefore, the central point above was based on the immediate context of the parable.

Use the paradigm “A is like B because of C” to determine the central point of the parable in Matthew 13:52 in light of its context in the chapter.
The Basic Paradigm for finding the central point in the particular passage in Matthew 13:52 is: He said to them, “Therefore every teacher of the law who has become a disciple in the kingdom of heaven is like the owner of a house who brings out of his storeroom new treasures as well as old.”
A= the spiritual reality is Jesus was asking the disciples a question in Matthew 13:51, and they answered yes, which leads right into 13:52
B= the earthly illustration is in Matthew 15:51, where Jesus is saying every teacher of the law who has become a disciple in the kingdom of heaven is like the owner of a house
C= the point of compassion is that Jesus was ensuring the disciples had an understanding of the parable he was using in Matthew 13: 47 concerning the parable of the Net, and they all answered yes, which lead up to another parable. Jesus is telling the disciples that being in the Kingdom of God, is like having a new house. He had been teaching how the Scribes were from the old testament who wrote and kept the laws, and interpreted the laws, but now they the disciples must start over once again with teaching applications to something that was old. You see the Scribes studied the law and interpreted the law, but they were lead by a system of their own rules and beliefs. They were were called doctors of the law, and they had changed the law of God. The store room is meant to show the treasures of the old, but now since your are a disciple of Christ, you have have new treasures. The new things taught about Jesus are the truths.
