The second part I want you to take a present day look at that idea of civil religion I want you to assess something like statues that are being pulled down around the country now I’m not talking about the Confederate statues. The statues of the founders; Thomas Jefferson I think the statue was pulled down Christopher Columbus is not a Founder but he’s part of the American mythology he did founded American 14th October for tonight like we we know that we know the myth I believe they just pulled down the statue of his in Baltimore. Think about the statues of Founders or people that are key to the American mythology being toppled or think about things like soccer players across the country now or Colin Kaepernick two years ago kneeling during the national anthem and intersect those things with the arguments Bella makes in his piece.
