Describe the access control security of a place you frequent other than your home, such as your workplace. For example, is the main entrance heavily protected, but the loading docks open and unprotected?

Hello Class,
My workplace normally has security prior to entering the garage and at every main entrance to admin buildings. Employees are issued a keycard with our information and picture displayed for security review. This is not scanned once but twice, as certain areas are restricted based on the workers position and clearance level. When at my workstation, there is a standard 10-key alphanumeric required along with a username. Depending on how the definition of access control is defined, each step of this process has policies in reference to access control. The broader definition of access control can be understood as ‘a fundamental component of data security that dictates who’s allowed to access and use company information and resources’ (Citrix, 2020). From first entering the site, it is known by security that it’s also open to the public, for certain services. This is further restricted when trying to walk into the building, like if an interviewee decided to try and find the interviewer. Needless to say, they wouldn’t get very far and likewise, for someone who protocol will write their name and a reason for visiting the site. The lack of protection may be seen internally with personal devices allowed on the network, though it remains speculative how well these devices are monitored. I know that certain websites are blocked, such as affiliates of tor and linux software.

Access to the building is restricted to badge entry. The badge has my photograph on it. The main entrances have revolving doors that have sensors that prevent more than one person from passing through per badge scan. There are other doors that require badge scans as well, once inside the building. There are surveillance cameras everywhere inside the building and outside as well. The rooms that have servers in them have a keypad and a badge scanner as well as a camera above the reader.
Access control considerations for cyber security prevent anything from joining the network. The computers have restrictions on what they permit to be downloaded and what websites can be viewed. The computers lock after about 5 minutes of inactivity. Security can take many forms such as restricting what media can be connected to a network and requiring credentials to access terminals (Martin, 2019).
