Good morning professor and classmates,
Cloud computing is still that exciting new part of technology that since it was first presented has quickly been used more and more, especially with the viability it can give employees working in the field, or perhaps ones working from a home office. While there are many pro’s to cloud computing, such as data being available to you as long as you have the internet to connect to the company servers, or wherever the cloud server is hosted. There are also a number of downsides too.
Like any sort of system that a company uses it is advisable to have a backup plan in place in the event that cloud computing does not work, or goes down for any period of time. Along with that, it is advisable to always keep in mind that the data may not be backed up, so don’t assume that it is, technology can have issues, and if that data doesn’t back up what is the plan b?
The other part of this I’d like to bring up is that the largest issue with any technology is the human part. If someone were to accidentally delete files in the cloud, are they gone forever? Are their backups in the cloud? Are their offline backups to make sure that no matter the damage done to cloud information that the information will still be available elsewhere?

Cloud computing according to the IBM Services refers to ‘servers, database management, data strogare, networking, software applications and special capabilities such as blockchain and artificial intelligence (AI)- over the internet, as opposed to owning and operating these resources yourself, on premises’ (IBM Cloud, 2020). Many organizations are migrating to cloud computing because of its host of benefits like been cost-effective, increasing productivity. Below is the list of the benefits of cloud computing:
1. Cloud computing is cost effective because it removes the huge capital expenses for organization to procure hardware and software and also in setting up on-site data centers.
2. Cloud computing provides services and resources within minutes and it flexible also taking off time and pressure in capacity planning
3. Cloud services removes the need for racking and stacking that has plagued on-site data centers, so IT teams can spend time on what is necessary.
4. It also helps when setting up a global/ multi-region infrastructure. Clod computing reduces associated maintenance, time and human error
5. Setting up a cloud service for organization is vital in disaster or data recovery. It can set up very easily and gives the organization control over their resources.
Despite these benefits of cloud computing, there exist from cons to it, which are identified as:
1. Proprietary technology may restrict the use of cloud computing and services
2. Added latency may be visual when using cloud computing
3. Sensitive data over cloud services may prove to be very difficult
4. There’s also an issue of security because an organization is surrendering its company information and data to a third-party cloud service provider
5. It is also phone at external hack attacks and threats.
