Reflective Thinking 1:

Think of a time when you were a critical thinker. The experience could have been when you were a child, new parent, or a nursing assistant. It was a time when you thought “outside of the box.” What happened to you when you thought the problem or concern through and arrived at a place different from any place you had gone to before in your mind? Describe the experience and how you felt about it.

I am sure you have had “aha” moments in your life. Take some time to identify one and record it here . Explain the problem that caused you to discover the new information that was the “aha.” What impact did it have on your life? How did you feel about coming up with a new idea? Was the idea effective for your problem?

Reflective Thinking 3:

Take some time and determine whether you have feelings of intolerance for an individual or group. If you do, consider how to change your thinking. Do you need to gather more information about the person or group so that you can understand them better? Do you need to talk to the individual or a member of the group? Do you need to evaluate thoughtfully why you have feelings of intolerance? You cannot have feelings of intolerance and be a successful nurse. The two simply are incompatible. I suggest you take some time now and work through any feelings you may have. Your clinical instructor may be a good resource as well. Best wishes!
