Reduce the Federal Deficit

2. In the drop-down box, select “Current Tax Code 2012”

3. You can now make any change you wish to the old tax code. At the bottom right the system tracks whether you are adding or cutting to the federal deficit.

4. Your goal is to cut the deficit by at least 20%.

5. After you have created your plan, take a screenshot of the entire page and submit your screenshot.

7. You must also submit a clear explanation (minimum 250 words) as to why you made the changes you made and who you think will benefit and suffer most from your changes.

NOTE 1: The tax rates, law, and deficit shown on this website are not accurate and date back to 2012. The point of this exercise is to visualize the overall impact of tax policy decisions on the federal deficit. Therefore, the year is not important.
